The Budget Passed — and Cyber Families Took the MASSIVE Hit
A 25% cut to public cyber charter schools is now law. Parents cannot afford to stay silent.
Today, Pennsylvania passed a state budget — and buried inside it was a 25% cut to public cyber charter schools.
Not 2%.
Not 5%.
Twenty-five percent. One quarter of their funding — gone.
Let’s be clear about what that means:
Some cyber schools will not survive this.
Public school teachers will be laid off.
Programs will be reduced or eliminated.
I know parents are angry.
I am too.
Angry, exhausted, and honestly… heartbroken.
I’ve spent years meeting with lawmakers from both political parties — in Harrisburg, in D.C., and across Pennsylvania. Disagreement was normal, but the conversations were respectful. Civil. Human.
But today felt different.
I asked one lawmaker if cyber schools could at least be held harmless — meaning, no additional cuts in the next budget.
Instead of a conversation, the discussion simply ended.
And that told me everything:
This wasn’t the last cut. More are coming.
The next budget — Governor’s proposal — drops in less than 90 days.
Parents need to understand: this is not over.
Not even close.
Why This Matters for My Family — and Yours
This isn’t politics.
This is personal.
My daughter Bella nearly died this year after a surgery went wrong. She coded. She fought back. She is still fighting.
At the same time, her mom suffered two strokes and remains in inpatient care.
Through all of that, her cyber school kept her stable, supported, and learning.
We didn’t choose cyber school for convenience.
We chose it because we needed safety, consistency, and respect — things we did not receive in our former district, where the bullying came not just from students but from adults.
And still, while managing medical emergencies, rebuilding our family’s daily life, and trying to keep our kids’ education intact, I’m told I now need to worry about whether their school will survive.
No parent should ever face that.
🍎 Parents, Here’s What Happens Next
If lawmakers think this cut ends the conversation, they’re wrong.
Starting next Monday, and every Monday after that, I will publish the Cyber Parents Monday Action Post:
Who to email
What to say
What’s happening behind the scenes
What new budget threats are coming
How to show up effectively
Not anger without direction.
Clear steps. Clear targets. Clear impact.
But I need you with me.
Not a handful of parents — hundreds.
We cannot match the other side’s money, but we can overwhelm them with voices.
