No Days Off: Parent Voices Are the Power
It doesn’t take big money to make change — it takes parents who show up, again and again.
Parents are tired. Stressed. Doing everything they can to make a dime stretch into a quarter. We get it — life doesn’t stop. But when it comes to our kids’ education, we can’t take a day off.
If we want lawmakers to hear us, we have to speak up — not once, but over and over again.
This week’s call to action is simple:
📬 Share your story with your lawmaker.
Tell them about your child — their wins, their struggles, their school. Let them know you love your child, and you’re not going away. They’ll see your name in their inbox, hear your voice on their voicemail, or maybe meet you face-to-face — at least once a month.
It doesn’t have to be long. Four sentences can make an impact.
It doesn’t have to happen during business hours. It can happen over Saturday morning coffee or while waiting in line at a fast-food place.
Not sure how to start? Keep it real. Add something personal — like what your child’s excited to be for Halloween this year. It breaks the ice, makes your story human, and reminds lawmakers these are real families, real kids, real futures.
🎃 “My son can’t wait to be Spider-Man this Halloween — and like him, I’m just trying to do what’s right and protect my kid.”
🧙 “My daughter’s going as a witch, but when it comes to school, she wants to feel like she’s got real magic — teachers who care and resources that work.”
🦸 “Our twins are superheroes this year — because they’ve learned resilience through their cyber school.”
We’re not backed by big money. But we have something bigger: our voices, our stories, and our determination. And if we show up consistently, that carries more weight than any check ever could.
Parents, caregivers, families — this is our moment.
Change doesn’t come from waiting.
It comes from showing up. Again and again.
